Nature, character & spatial distribution

World Cities are products of the process of globalisation, the shrinking of time and space. These urban agglomerations have outstripped their national significance and act as nodes within the connected of global cities.

According to UNESCO the globalisation process is driven economically by international financial flows and trade, technologically by information technology and mass media entertainment, and very significantly, also by very human means such as cultural exchanges, migration and international tourism.
